Charity Event, 16th July

I’m excited to be able to announce that Dice and Decks Gaming Club, Ross-on-Wye will be running a Warmachine/Hordes tournament as part of the chairty fund raising day we’re putting on.

The date is Saturday July 16th and the venue is Ross-on-Wye Scout HQ which is next to the Swimming Pool, postcode HR9 7DB. Registration will start at 9:30, first games start at 10:00 and the presentations should start around 5:30.

We are raising money for the Air Ambulance charity, for those unfamiliar with their work they provide emergency transport to hospitals for seriously ill or injured people and in cases when time is of the essence they have saved many lives. Recently the service they provide (with no funding except donations) saved the life of the father of one of our club members so we have adopted them as our club charity and hope to bring people to together to play games, have fun and raise money for a worthy cause.

The Warmachine/Hordes tournament will be a 4 round Steamroller tournament, 25 points and you can bring 2 lists if you wish. Full details will follow soon.

The cost will be £10 and we would like to take payment in advance by paypal, please email/pm and I’ll send you the payment address. The event will be capped at 16 players and will be first come first served.

On the day we will be running some other events such as a Magic the GatheringM12 release tournament and a chairty auction, details of the auction items will follow.

Painting Contest Rules – 7th January 2011

Dice and Decks Gaming Club Painting Competition Entry rules

A note from the organisers

If you are in any doubt about whether the entry you wish to use in this competition meets the requirements and/or restrictions of your chosen category then please discuss this with either Rob or Paul who will discuss your choices and suggest whether this entry is appropriate for that category.

Best Single Miniature

This is open to any single miniature. This includes single models on bikes, jetbikes, horses, boars, cold ones or wolves, but not those mounted on large monsters. Best Single Miniature (Junior)

This is open to any single miniature. The entrant must be in Year 8 of school or below. This includes single models on bikes, jetbikes, horses, boars, cold ones or wolves, but not those mounted on large monsters. This category includes Terminators and other similar miniatures but most miniatures supplied with a 40mm or larger base should be entered in the Large Model or Vehicle category as appropriate.

Best Squad/Unit/Team

This category is for Warhammer 40,000 squads or squadrons of five or more models. This is also the category for Epic 40,000 detachments and includes gangs and mobs from Necromunda, Warhammer regiments, Warmachine / Hordes Units, Mordheim warbands, Warmaster brigades and Blood Bowl teams. The entry must consist of a minimum of five models mounted on their standard gaming bases. All squads must be “legal” in game terms. Best Conversion

This category is for the entry of any miniature which has been converted to portray a pre-determined theme. You can enter anything which would fit in any of the categories listed above but the entry should be inspired by the choice of theme. The theme for this category is: The man with no name (Zap Brannigan? No! – A mysterious stranger who arrives to solve your problems then vanishes without accepting a word of thanks)

A converted miniature is one which has been assembled using parts or additional details not available within the standard spruesfor that race and/or that has been assembled in a way substantially different than that which was originally intended for thatminiature. This category also includes the extensive use of modelling putties for the purposes of altering or enhancing the style and/or details of that miniature. If you are in any doubt whether you have done enough modifications to a miniature then you should contact a club official in advance for their ruling on whether your miniature will count as a conversion under these rules.

The miniature must be painted however quality of conversion work and design are what judges will look
for. In the event of the judge being unable to separate entries on quality of conversion then he will look at the quality of painting.

By entering this competition you agree that Dice and Decks Gaming Club retain the right to publish pictures and/or descriptions of the miniatures in any promotional materials including but not limited to the club website (www.diceanddecks.com), forum, online gallery and flyers.

Entries are limited to a maximum of one entry per category per participant. Participants may enter as many categories as they wish as long as they do not include more than one entry per category.

Judging will be done by Mr David Holmes. His decision is final.

Participants may not enter any miniatures which they have entered in previous Dice and Decks Gaming club painting competitions. Any such entries will be automatically disqualified upon discovery. The only exception to this will be miniatures which were unpainted and entered into the Conversion category for a previous Dice and Decks Gaming Club painting competition which are subsequently painted and entered into any other category.
