Dice and Decks Gaming Club Painting Competition Entry rules
A note from the organisers
If you are in any doubt about whether the entry you wish to use in this competition meets the requirements and/or restrictions of your chosen category then please discuss this with either Rob or Paul who will discuss your choices and suggest whether this entry is appropriate for that category.
Best Single Miniature
This is open to any single miniature. This includes single models on bikes, jetbikes, horses, boars, cold ones or wolves, but not those mounted on large monsters. This category includes Terminators and other similar miniatures but most miniatures supplied with a 40mm or larger base should be entered in the Large Model or Vehicle category as appropriate.
Best Single Miniature (Junior)
This is open to any single miniature. The entrant must be in Year 8 of school or below. This includes single models on bikes, jetbikes, horses, boars, cold ones or wolves, but not those mounted on large monsters. This category includes Terminators and other similar miniatures but most miniatures supplied with a 40mm or larger base should be entered in the Large Model or Vehicle category as appropriate.
Best Squad/Unit/Team
This category is for Warhammer 40,000 squads or squadrons of five or more models. This is also the category for Epic 40,000 detachments and includes gangs and mobs from Necromunda, Warhammer regiments, Warmachine / Hordes Units, Mordheim warbands, Warmaster brigades and Blood Bowl teams. The entry must consist of a minimum of five models mounted on their standard gaming bases. All squads must be “legal” in game terms. This category DOES include squadrons of models mounted on bikes, jetbikes, horses, boars, cold ones or wolves provided they are organized into a unit of five or more models. All models should be mounted on an appropriately sized gaming bases and may include a movement tray.
Best Tank, Large Model or Monster
Any Warhammer 40,000 miniature which has an armour value. Or any single model which has the monstrous or gargantuan creature special rule. Or any Warhammer Fantasy Battle miniatures which have the Large Target special rule. This category is also open to Lord of the Rings miniatures larger than cavalry and also to monsters and tanks from other ranges. This is the category for Warmachine Warjacks and Hordes Warbeasts
Best Conversion
This category is for the entry of any miniature which has been converted to portray a pre-determined theme. You can enter anything which would fit in any of the categories listed above but the entry should be inspired by the choice of theme. The theme for this category is: The man with no name (Zap Brannigan? No! – A mysterious stranger who arrives to solve your problems then vanishes without accepting a word of thanks)
A converted miniature is one which has been assembled using parts or additional details not available within the standard spruesfor that race and/or that has been assembled in a way substantially different than that which was originally intended for thatminiature. This category also includes the extensive use of modelling putties for the purposes of altering or enhancing the style and/or details of that miniature. If you are in any doubt whether you have done enough modifications to a miniature then you should contact a club official in advance for their ruling on whether your miniature will count as a conversion under these rules.
The miniature must be painted however quality of conversion work and design are what judges will look
for. In the event of the judge being unable to separate entries on quality of conversion then he will look at the quality of painting.
By entering this competition you agree that Dice and Decks Gaming Club retain the right to publish pictures and/or descriptions of the miniatures in any promotional materials including but not limited to the club website (www.diceanddecks.com), forum, online gallery and flyers.
Entries are limited to a maximum of one entry per category per participant. Participants may enter as many categories as they wish as long as they do not include more than one entry per category.
Judging will be done by Mr David Holmes. His decision is final.
Participants may not enter any miniatures which they have entered in previous Dice and Decks Gaming club painting competitions. Any such entries will be automatically disqualified upon discovery. The only exception to this will be miniatures which were unpainted and entered into the Conversion category for a previous Dice and Decks Gaming Club painting competition which are subsequently painted and entered into any other category.
